He was a member of the British Academy; Istitut de droit International; American Academy of Arts and Letters; Commission of International Justice appointed by Council of League of Nations to prepare plans for a permanent Court of International Justice; Commissioner Plenipotentiary for the U.S. in International Conference on the Limitation of Armaments; Committee of Experts convened at Geneva 1929 to revise Statute of Permanent Court.
