Frost family.
Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain was born on September 8, 1828. He graduated from Bowdoin College in 1852 and married Frances Caroline Adams in 1855. He served as professor of rhetoric (1856-1862), and instructor (1857-1861) and professor (1857-1861) of modern languages at Bowdoin College. Chamberlain attained the rank of colonel in the Union Army during the Civil War and participated in several major battles. He served as governor of Maine (1866-1871) and president of Bowdoin College (1871-1873). Chamberlain held teaching positions and engaged in public service and personal business ventures until his death on February 24, 1914.
William Frost was born on November 15, 1754. He served as a deacon in the Congregational Church and as an officer in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. He also served as treasurer of York County, in the Maine Territory. Frost lived in Andover, Massachusetts, where he married Sarah Holt in 1777. He died on September 18, 1836.
