Subjects concerning domestic affairs pertain to actions of the U.S. Federal and state governments, including those of former U.S. Presidents Woodrow Wilson, Herbert Hoover, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Richard M. Nixon; and activities of cabinet members, executive departments, executive department officers and staff, state governors, the U.S. Congress and its members, and the U.S. Supreme Court and Supreme Court justices. The collection consists of copies of trial records collected by Seymour C. Yuter, a patent attorney for Technitrol, Inc. They include documents from the interlocking suits of Technitrol v. Control Data Corp., Technitrol v. Sperry Rand, and Technitrol v. U.S.A., which came to trial between the late 1950s and the mid 1970s. The principal point at issue was, who was the inventor of the magnetic storage drum. The records provide a fascinating picture of the early history of the computer industry and trace the role played by the military in the years immediately after World War II.

When former President Harry S. Truman began writing his memoirs, he borrowed from his sister, Mary Jane Truman, letters that he wrote to her from 1945 to 1948. Mr. Truman's staff made photocopies of the letters and returned the originals to Miss Truman. Miss Truman then destroyed the original letters. When the Truman Library accessioned Mr. Truman's personal papers, the photocopies of the letters were included as part of those papers, and are now the only known copy of the letters. Some of the letters contain notes written by Mr. Truman and his assistants who worked on the memoirs.

The collection contains photographs of personnel and activities of the Eighth Evacuation Hospital in North Africa and Italy during World War II. Scenes include Casablanca; hospital tents at Anja Hill; an eruption of Mt. Vesuvius; bombed ruins in Italy; winter at Pietramala; celebrity visits; celebrations including Jefferson's birthday and weddings; and group portraits of the doctors, nurses, and enlisted men. Many of the photographs were used in "The 8th Evac." by Byrd Stuart Leavell.

On "Operation-Crossroads," the atomic bomb test at Bikini atoll. A B-29 plane, "Dave's Dream" takes off from a base on Kwajalein. Shows the test fleet. Goats and pigs to be used in the test are smeared with ointment. Adm. Blandy and Sec. Forrestal stand on the bridge of the flagship McKinley. Shows the atomic bomb blast, the target ship Nevada, the target ships afire after the blast, and bomb damage to the submarine Skate, the cruiser Prinz Eugene, the Japanese cruiser Sakawa, and the cruiser Pensacola. Samples of ocean water are tested with geiger counters for radioactivity. Adm. Blandy and Sec. Forrestal go aboard target ships to inspect the damage.
