Charles Philip Snyder, U.S. Naval officer, was born in Charleston, West Virginia, on July 10, 1879. He graduated from the U.S. naval Academy in 1900, was promoted to Admiral in 1940, and retired from the Navy in 1943. During his Naval career of 51 years, he attended the Naval War College and served on the staff, 1924-1926, and as NWC president, 1937-1939. He served as Commandant of Midshipman, U.S. Naval Academy, 1928-1931, and in 1939-1940 was Commander Battle Ships, Battle Force, and during 1940-1941 was Commander, Battle Force. He served on active duty until 1947. He died in 1964.
