James Vincent Forrestal (February 15, 1892 – May 22, 1949) was the last Cabinet-level United States Secretary of the Navy and the first United States Secretary of Defense. Thomas Terry Connally (1877-1963) represented Texas in the United States Congress for 35 years, serving in the House of Representatives from 1916 to 1929 and in the Senate from 1929 to 1953.
