Bliss Perry was an American educator, author, and editor. He taught at Princeton University from 1893 to 1900, and at Harvard University from 1907 to 1930 and was Harvard lecturer at the University of Paris from 1909 to 1910. From 1899 to 1909 Perry was the editor of "The Atlantic Monthly."

Bliss Perry, American scholar and editor, was born in Williamstown, Mass., and educated at Williams College and abroad. He taught at Williams College, 1886-1893, Princeton University, 1893-1900, and at Harvard University from 1907-1930, and wrote critical studies of Whitman, Carlyle, Emerson, and Whittier. He was editor of the Atlantic monthly, 1899-1909, and as advisor to Houghton Mifflin, presided over the publication of the 14-volume edition of Thoreau's journals. He also wrote novels, short fiction, essays, an autobiography, studies of poetry, and collections of fiction and essays.
