Follwed by a 76-page Spanish-Indian vocabulary of Durasque and three Guaymi dialects, which was begun by the priest Franco at the request of the naturalist, Antonio Pineda, before the death of the latter in 1792, and probably completed shortly thereafter.

The most notable of Bancroft's Texas holdings, the Pinart collection relates primarily to the period immediately preceding the Texas Revolution, and is cited in Bancroft's Works as "Tex. Col. Doc." Originally the collection consisted of 66 documents, numbered consecutively, but Nos. 4, 5, 6, [12?], 15, and 33 were removed by Pinart before H.H. Bancroft acquired the collection; Nos. 46-64, mainly Texas broadsides, 1831-1839, have been catalogued as printed items; and Nos. 16, 40, and 44, contemporary copies, have been placed with Nos. 21, 11, and 36. The Mss. retain Pinart's original numbers.

Arizona history subgroup, 1940-1996.
The Arizona history subgroup contains manuscripts and research about early Arizona history, Mexican Americans, and Tucson history. Topics include Juan Bautista Anza, Teodoro Ramirez, Apache Mansos, Alphonse L. Pinart, mining in Hispanic Arizona (particularly the Mine with the Iron Door), missions (especially Guevavi and San Xavier), Sonoran Land Title Abstracts, and Hispanic genealogy. In the 1950s and 1980s, Officer compiled data about Tucson's power structure, Hispanic clubs and organizations, and Hispanic households. There is material about developing the Convento/Rio Nuevo site; histories of the Sosa-Carrillo-Fremont house, X-9 Ranch, Tucson barrios, Tucson radio, Coronado National Trail, Rillito, Marana, and Cortaro, corridos and an index to the Oury property record. The typescript for Officer's book, Hispanic Arizona, is also present. There is a manuscript by Tom Sheridan about the Catholic Church in Arizona and one by Stewart Udall about Mormon pioneers in Arizona. Other materials relate to contemporary issues such as maquiladores, border environmental problems, and immigration.

A legendary history of the Cakchiquel Indians, written in Cakchiquel by Indian nobles, with the portion up to 1562 by Arana and the closing portion by "Xebuta Queh" (Francisco Días Gebuta Quej). At the beginning of the volume, Pinart has included notes on Juan de Medina, titles of works on Central American explorations, and a list of Bishops of Guatemala.

A copy of the opening portion of the history written by Aguado, first Franciscan Provincial of Santa Fé de Bogotá and a participant in Jiménez de Quesada's entry into Nueva Granada. It covers Spanish exploration, conquest, and colonization of that region from the establishment of Santa Marta at the beginning of the 16th century to 1568, including descriptions of local geography, native life, flora, fauna, and other features. Part I of Aguado's history was first printed in Bogotá in 1906, as Vol. 5 of the "Biblioteca de Historia Nacional;" Part II was published in Caracas, 1913-1915, by the Venezuelan Academia Nacional de la Historia.

There are a few documents from the British rule, 1807-1819, chiefly passports. The one volume is a photocopy of the extremely fragile Philip Gardelin letterbook (folder 9). typed transcripts of various documents and notes.

The photographs include family members of the Simeonoff, Ponomarev, and Knagin families with genealogy dating back to the Russian American Company in the early 1800's. Photographs were taken in and around Kodiak and also include Woody Island, Afognak, Eklutna, Ouzinkie, Port Bailey, Port Lions, Kenai, and Uganik mostly from 1900 to the 1960's. A few photos were taken outside Alaska, including Washington, D.C., San Diego, and Albuquerque. Photos in the Chateau de Musee, Boulogne sur Mer, France were taken by Helen J. Simeonoff to document Sugpiaq masks collected by Louis Alphonse Pinart, 1872-1873, in Kodiak, Afognak, Katmai, and Unga.
