Collection of reports and notes, chiefly copies, concerned with Guatemala, including Chiapas and Yucatan, which relate primarily to Dominican and Franciscan missionaries or to native customs and traditions. There are seven principal items: 1. Copy of report, addressed by the Prior of the Dominican Convent in Cobán to Bishop Navas y Quevedo of Guatemala, defending the Dominican missionaries against the complaints presented to the King of Spain by Olivera y Angulo, former Alcalde Mayor of Verapaz. Cobán, Guatemala, February 8, 1685. 15 p. A collection of notes is appended on missionary expeditions and Indian disturbances. This 14-page addition was compiled, according to Brasseur de Bourbourg, by the Dominican Blas del Valle for use in revising and extending Remesal's Historia.

In a broad sense Dominican refers to a family of friars (clerical and nonclerical), cloistered nuns, professed sisters in apostolic congregations, and laity, all of whom consider St. Dominic de Guzman as their founder and inspiration.
