Biographical notes:

Charles Eliot Norton was an American author, editor, and teacher. He was a professor of the history of fine arts at Harvard. Catherine Eliot Norton (1793-1879) was his mother, Sara Norton (1864-1922) and Elizabeth Gaskell Norton (b.1866) were his daughters, and Margaret Palmer (Meyer) Norton was the wife of his son, Eliot Norton (1863-1932).
