Benjamin is still in NY. Mr. Partridge offer me the Studio because the woman who was in charge of the French and Belgian Artist Relief Fundwas unable to keep it open so i am. He and Mr. Partridge felt Edwin had a better opportunity to see magazines, newspaper articles, and books. Their are few publishers he wants to see. He is wondering if Edwin has returned and Benjamin would like to see him before returning to Berlin.

Benjamin tells Edwin that there are no list of names. He forwarded his letter to Mr. Brandt and to Mr. Wheeler to send the advanced copies of the August Arena with your article. Your picture has been made into a plate and it is a good one. July copy of the Arena will carry double the reading matter.

Benjamin recieved a long letter from Mr. Grierson. In my review of his book I asked for time to give a history of the democratic era. He writes that he is preparing a gallery of French revolutionary charactors. I ask him to write Arthur Brisbane and Mr. Hearst 5hinking they amay like the papers on The Cosmopolitan. Grierson has sent me splendid reviews on his book. I havent done anything on the new Magazine. After speaking to some friends I'm waiting a fews days to see it the crisis on The Arena is rearched. I'm satisfiedthat the magazine has to move on to other hands. It would be easier to push the Arena than to start a new magazine. Salaries are due and I'm 3 months behind in rent. Mr Brandt seem to be in failure financially, in the event a reciever will be appointed. It's AApril and no March issue of the Arena. The Arena is in financial problems.

Benjamin is discussing a prominent teacher of oratory & dramatic art at Dallas, Texas. She's done her post-graduate courses at his sister's school in Boston. She is very interested in your poetry. Would like to see you. She will be in N.Y. on the 2nd with an Uncle. It would be of great interest to you to see her. She could give your poetry a wider circulation in the south.
