Christopher Morley was an American editor, an author, and a Rhodes scholar. Morley was one of the founders of the "Saturday Review of Literature," of which he was an editor from 1924 to 1940. A prolific author, he wrote more than 50 books. His novels include PANASSUS ON WHEELS (1917), THE HAUNTED BOOKSHOP (1919), THUNDER ON THE LEFT (1925), and KITTY FOYLE (1939; filmed in1940). He also revised and enlarged BARTLETT'S FAMILIAR QUOTATIONS (1937, 1948).

Christopher Morley was born in Haverford, Pennsylvania, graduated from Haverford College, and later attended Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. He worked for Doubleday, Page and Company, and wrote columns for the New York Evening Post and the Saturday Review of Literature. He became one of America's most popular novelists, poets, and essayists, producing memorable works such as Parnassus on Wheels and Kitty Foyle. He was also on the editorial board of the Book-of-the-Month Club, edited Bartlett's Familiar Quotations, and co-founded the Sherlock Holmes society known as the Baker Street Irregulars.

Christopher Morley (1890-1957) was an American author and editor. He was one of the founders of the Saturday Review of Literature and worked as a contributing editor to the publication from 1924 to 1940. He was a prolific writer of novels, essays, and poetry, his most successful work being the best-selling 1939 novel Kitty Foyle. He was also famous for his popular "Bowling Green" column in the New York Evening Post and the Saturday Review .
