Editor.

Longwell was an editor at Doubleday and supervised the publication of works of Edna Ferber, Ellen Glasgow, and other writers. In 1934, he joined Time, Inc., where he was one of founding editors of LIFE, and chairman of the board of editors from 1946 until his retirement in 1954.
