Frederick Locker-Lampson was an English poet and bibliophile best known for the numerous editions of his London lyrics which appeared between 1857 and 1909. In 1883 the Book Fellow's Club of New York City, a small informal group of bibliophiles, published an edition of London lyrics with the poet's approval. One member of the group, Valentin A. Blacque, then commissioned drawings from English illustrators to be made directly onto the sheets of his large paper copy of this Book Fellow's edition and secured Locker-Lampson's help in working with the illustrators.

Frederick Locker-Lampson (1821-1895) was an English bibliophile and poet. Born Frederick Locker, he merged his surname with that of his second wife, Hannah Jane Lampson, in 1885. He was active in literary circles, a popular host, and acquainted with many noted authors of the time including Thomas Carlyle, Charles Dickens, Leigh Hunt, and others, as well as the illustrators Randolph Caldecott and Kate Greenaway.

Frederick Locker-Lampson (1821-1895) was a poet and man of letters. He began his career in government service, but retired from his Admiralty post in 1850 when he married Lady Charlotte Christian Bruce, daughter of the 7th Earl of Elgin. His best-known work was London Lyrics (1857); his literary friends included Alfred Tennyson, Robert Browning, William Thackeray, Anthony Trollope, and George Eliot.
