Gladstone, prime minister and author; Letitia Elizabeth Landon, poet; Edward Bulwer-Lytton, writer and politician; Lady Sydney (Owenson) Morgan, novelist and hostess; Count D'Orsay, man of fashion; Samuel Rogers, poet; and William Makepeace Thackeray, novelist.
