Informs Mountjoy that the reinforcements are being sent to him and then asks in a lengthy postscript that he confer a colonelcy on the brother of the earl of Northumberland [Sir Richard Percy], cryptically referring to Mountjoy's future wife, Penelope Rich, and to Sir Walter Raleigh, and adding that the earl "is one whom I would not discontent."

Title:
Souvenirs, anecdotes et pensées diverses, ou, Morale de l'histoire et des philosophes, 1770 [i.e., ca. 1794-1795].
Manuscript by an anonymous French royalist, written at the height of the Reign of Terror in France, combining elements of the commonplace book and the political tract in support of Louis XVI. Despite the date of 1770 on the title page, the volume must have been written after 1793, as it mentions the execution of Louis XVI. It includes anecdotes and quotations on history, philosophy, and the range of human emotion and experience, as well as insights concerning the King and the political climate leading up to the Revolution. Also included are anecdotes which illustrate a quality or emotion, such as courage, honor, or charity, or which exemplify an act, such as adultery or forgiveness. Two sections titled "Sentences" contain short Latin quotations from classical authors. The pieces (arranged in loose alphabetical order by subject) cover the period from antiquity to the late 18th century, and deal with a wide range of historical, mythological, Biblical, and literary figures. These include Philip of Macedonia, Alexander the Great, Aristotle, Socrates, Plato, Homer, Virgil, Martial, Ovid, Juvenal, Pliny, Horace, Seneca, William the Conqueror, Henri IV, Pierre de Bayard, Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, Catherine de Medici, Torquato Tasso, and Sir Walter Raleigh. Major 17th- and 18th-century figures mentioned include Cardinal Jules Mazarin, Elizabeth I of England, Philip IV of Spain, Charles Le Brun, Ottoman sultan Suleyman II, René Descartes, Anne Robert Jacques Turgot, Jacques Necker, Maurepas, the Marquis de Lafayette, George Washington, Charles-Louis de Montesquieu, Malesherbes, Charles Alexandre de Calonne, Camille Desmoulins, the Marquis de Sade, Voltaire, François Quesnay, and Louis XVI, who is much discussed in admiring terms. Many passages include detailed information on the actions of the French government under Louis XVI.

An addition refers to Sanderson's connection with Sir Walter Raleigh for whom he "did at severall tymes stande bounde" and with whom he made "also severall adventures into Virginia." The essay was written over time with the body of the work begun in 1607, the introductory matter composed after the death of Robert Cecil in 1612, an original dedication to James I, and additions and a dedication to Charles I in 1625.

George Ord Collection 1831-1864
George Ord made important contributions as an ornithologist and writer but is also famous for his contempt of fellow ornithologist John James Audubon. Throughout his life he published numerous scientific articles and assisted in completing Alexander Wilson's life's work, . Ord also left his mark as a member of the American Philosophical Society and as the president of the Academy of Natural Science of Philadelphia. The George Ord collection consists primarily of outgoing personal correspondence to Charles Waterton ranging from 1831 to 1866 that highlights Ord's professional as well as personal affairs, most notably his hostility toward Audubon. The collection is supplemented by correspondence of Ord's to and from various individuals regarding personal and business matters.
