In 1848-1849, German composer Richard Wagner outlined a plan for the organization of a German national theater for the Kingdom of Saxony. A manuscript copy of his plan was read and considered, penciled remarks were added, and a penciled retort to these remarks added by Wagner himself. The manuscript was published in the Gesammelte Schriften in 1871, but without these remarks and with other omissions.
