At the time of the Normandy Invasion in June 1944, Paley arranged for a special radio broadcast by Allied leaders to the people of occupied Europe. In 1945, he served as deputy chief of Information Control, division of USGCC, and deputy chief of Psychological Warfare Division. In addition to serving on numerous boards and committees, he served as Chairman of the President's Materials Policy Commission from 1951 to 1952; and from 1954 to 1956 he was a member of the committee for the White House Conference on Education.
