Wikipedia site, "George Mason", viewed November 30, 2020.
George Mason IV (December 11, 1725 [O.S. November 30, 1725] – October 7, 1792) was an American planter, politician and delegate to the U.S. Constitutional Convention of 1787, one of three delegates who refused to sign the Constitution. His writings, including substantial portions of the Fairfax Resolves of 1774, the Virginia Declaration of Rights of 1776, and his Objections to this Constitution of Government (1787) opposing ratification, have exercised a significant influence on American political thought and events. The Virginia Declaration of Rights, which Mason principally authored, served as a basis for the United States Bill of Rights, a document of which he has been deemed a father.

This "Plan" represents the conclusion of the Committee rather than the work of a single individual. It is suggested that this copy, in Mason's hand, is an aide-memoire. For extensive background data see The Papers of Thomas Jefferson, Vol. 2, p. 305, edited by Julian P. Boyd.

Mulkearn, Lois. Research files of Lois Mulkearn, 1937-1956.
Title:
Research files of Lois Mulkearn, 1937-1956.
The collection consists of manuscript drafts, topic notes, transcripts, and correspondence collected by Lois Mulkearn, the first librarian at the University of Pittsburgh's Darlington Memorial Library. A portion of the materials is related to the book A Traveler's Guide to Historic Western Pennsylvania, written by Lois Mulkearn and Edwin V. Pugh and published by the University of Pittsburgh Press in 1954. The notes and manuscript drafts for the book are arranged by topics relating to the subject of the book, namely histories of various locations in Western Pennsylvania. Additional materials consist of transcripts of court cases involving George Mason of the Ohio Company, which was founded in 1747 and represented the trading and land prospecting interests of a handful of Virginia planters, and settlers who were in debt to the company. The cases are listed in alphabetical order by the last name of the party involved and date from between 1751 to 1763. It is possible these transcripts were used in Mulkearn's book George Mercer Papers, the authoritative volume on the Ohio Company published by the University of Pittsburgh Press in 1954. Other materials in the collection consist of notes about industrial safety and hygiene during the late eighteenth to mid twentieth centuries prepared for an unknown lecture or publication and drafts of Mulkearn's essays on a variety of historical topics.

Ohio Company (1747-1779). Records of the Ohio Company, 1736-1813 [electronic resource].
Title:
Records of the Ohio Company, 1736-1813 [electronic resource].
Manuscripts used by George Mercer to prepare his Case of the Ohio Company, which documented the Company's actions in the Ohio territory are the highlight of the collection. The Case of the Ohio Company was published by George Mercer in 1769 in pamphlet form, but the manuscript copy of the Case in this collection is distinct from the published version in many respects. For a thorough critique of the difference, see Mulkearn's George Mercer Papers. This collection includes the only known manuscript copy of the Case of the Ohio Company . The journals kept by Christopher Gist, recorded during his two scouting missions into the Ohio territory in the 1750s as a field agent of the company, are part of both the published Case reproduced in Mulkearn's book, and the manuscript Case in this collection. The collection includes two manuscript copies of the diary used by William M. Darlington to publish his 1893 book on the subject. The collection also includes debt notes and correspondence related to business conducted by the Ohio Company in Virginia, Maryland and eastern Pennsylvania. The notes include the name and residence of the debtor and the debt holder, the date that the debt was entered into the public record through the county clerk, and the amount. These materials are often annotated to document subsequent legal action, most commonly, the passage of the debt to a third party. In the contents list, accounts indicate an itemized list of goods for which a debt is owed, and a debt or more informal promise to repay simply document an amount. Also present are materials related to various legal cases brought against debtors. Full names are given when present and legible, and bracketed items indicate that the name was difficult to read. The interpretation of spelling may be incorrect because many of the names are the result of non-standardized spelling. Additionally, page numbers in brackets indicate the location of the transcription in Mulkearn's George Mercer Papers (example: LM p237 indicates that this document is transcribed on page 237 of Lois Mulkearn's book.)

Title:
Letter, 1776 May 18, Williamsburg, Va., to Richard Henry Lee, Philadelphia, Pa.
Contains information concerning R.H. Lee's resolution for independance which was recently passed in the [Virginia] convention, minus a preamble and lacking a "preemptory and decided air." Discusses need for a uniform plan of government to be prepared by Congress and approved by the colonies. Describes events following the passage of the resolves including the striking of the British flag and a militia muster on the green. [George] Mason and Thomas Ludwell Lee feel Lee's presence in Williamsburg is essential. Col[onel] [Thomas] Nelson is on his way to Congress which removes the objection respecting a quorum of [Virginia] delegates.

United States Sanitary Commission records. Army and Navy Claim Agency archives 1861-1870
The United States Sanitary Commission established the Army and Navy Claim Agency (ANCA) in Washington, D.C. on April 1, 1864 to serve as the USSC’s central office to assist Union soldiers, sailors, and their families in prosecuting claims on the federal government for pensions, back pay, bounty, commutation of rations, prize money, and other benefits, without cost. The Army and Navy Claim Agency Archives comprise the records of the Army and Navy Claim Agency; the records of the Pension Agency, its predecessor organization; the registers and cash books of its subsidiary local agencies; and the records of two quasi-independent USSC claim agencies whose origins predate the establishment of the Army and Navy Claim Agency: the Protective War Claim Association of the State of New York, located in New York City, and the Protective War Claim and Pension Agency, located in Philadelphia.
