Duffield, Samuel, 1732-1814
Samuel Duffield, Philadelphia physician and pharmacist, was born in 1732. He received an M.B. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1768. Duffield died on 27 Nov. 1814.
Duffield was a druggist, a naval surgeon, physician to the poor of Philadelphia, and consulting physician to the city board of health. He was also on the medical staff of the Philadelphia Alms House. Duffield was a founder of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia in 1787.
