Enoch Evans was a Quaker from Burlington County, New Jersey. He was born 8 May 1743 (27th of 2nd month, old style) to William Evans and Sarah Roberts Evans. In 1769 he married Mary Wilcox (1753-1785), daughter of Joseph and Sarah Wilcox; the couple had 5 children together. After Mary's death in 1785, Evans married Elizabeth Warrington Haines, widow of Edmund Haines and daughter of Henry Warrington, in 1787. Evans was recognized as an elder by Upper Evesham Monthly Meeting. He died on May 29, 1818, after several years of poor health.
