Amritsar, situated in the Punjab region of India, was the scene of the Jalliawala Barh incident or 'Amritsar Riots' in April 1919, when British troops fired on an angry but unarmed crowd killing 379 Indians, for which General Dyer received much criticism. The final compiler of this collection was probably Peter Liddle.
