Along with his father, Motilal, and Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru was the most visible and significant force for Indian independence. Raised partly in England, Nehru left his promising law practice to work for Indian independence, and was jailed often. He became the first Prime Minister of India, and is responsible for many of his country's policies and positions.
