Bynner, Witter, 1881-1968,. Letters : from various correspondents, 1900-1958.
Title:
Letters : from various correspondents, 1900-1958.
Chiefly letters to Bynner from literary friends and associates such as Mary Austin, Minnie Maddern Fiske, Robert Frost, Kahlil Gibran, Vachel Lindsay, Amy Lowell, William Sydney Porter (O. Henry), E.A. Robinson, Carl Sandburg, Sara Teasdale, and many others, on American literary criticism. Mary Austin's letters compliment Bynner's works and contain critical interpretations of their peer's works. The correspondence from Willa Cather divulges information about her youth as the starting point for her knowledge of western life. Frost's letters are personal in nature and inquire about family life while reminiscing on past encounters. Many letters from Laurence Housman discuss his own works, particularly the creation of his brother's (A.E. Housman) Memoirs. Laurence often discusses American politics, particulary the Second World War. Amy Lowell's letters discuss Bynner's reviews in The New Republic.

Title:
Collection of autograph letters and autographs, 1678-1930 (bulk, 1800-1930).
The Drake collection embraces a group of autograph letters and documents assembled by the firm for resale. The majority of the letters were written between 1800 and 1930, though some date as early as the 17th century. The correspondence of Dorothy Furman (comprising the years 1890-1915), Francis W. Halsey (1892-1902) and Temple Scott (1929-1930) is each separately grouped; that of Lord James Blyth (1900-1925) is dispersed throughout the Drake collection. Correspondents include 19th century American political and military figures, as well as American and British writers, clerics, and actors. Albums containing letters of art collector William T. Evans and of the Very Rev. G. W. Kitchin are present, as is the receipt book of John C. Freeke, an 18th century New York businessman. Correspondence of such significant figures in American literature and arts as John Shaw Billings, M. E. Braddon, Charles deKay, O. Henry, and Jerome Kern are included. Letters or documents of early New York mayors Nicholas Bayard and Abraham De Peyster, as well as collector William H. Woodin and William Duncan of early Virginia are to be found in the collection.

United States Sanitary Commission records. Army and Navy Claim Agency archives 1861-1870
The United States Sanitary Commission established the Army and Navy Claim Agency (ANCA) in Washington, D.C. on April 1, 1864 to serve as the USSC’s central office to assist Union soldiers, sailors, and their families in prosecuting claims on the federal government for pensions, back pay, bounty, commutation of rations, prize money, and other benefits, without cost. The Army and Navy Claim Agency Archives comprise the records of the Army and Navy Claim Agency; the records of the Pension Agency, its predecessor organization; the registers and cash books of its subsidiary local agencies; and the records of two quasi-independent USSC claim agencies whose origins predate the establishment of the Army and Navy Claim Agency: the Protective War Claim Association of the State of New York, located in New York City, and the Protective War Claim and Pension Agency, located in Philadelphia.
