Samuel Roberts was a Quaker associated with Chester Townships in his early residence and Evesham later on in life. He was born to Joshua and Rebecca Roberts on the 9th of the 1st Month 1758. He was the youngest child born to the couple; his siblings included: Joseph, John, Joshua, Rebekah, and Joshua and William (twins). In 1781 he married Elizabeth Shute, daughter of Samuel and Rebekah Shute, and together they had nine children (Joshua, Samuel, Hugh, Rebecca, Benjamin, Hope, Anna, Nathan, Hannah). Roberts died September 21, 1834 at the age of 70.
