Joshua Hunt was a Quaker teacher associated predominantly with Brownsville, Pennsylvania. He was born on the 1st day of the 2nd month, 1754, to Robert and Martha (Bate) Hunt of Moorestown, New Jersey. In 1778 Hunt married Esther Roberts, and the couple stayed in New Jersey for the next dozen years. However, in 1790 Joshua, Esther, and their five children moved to Brownsville (then called Redstone), a small but growing town on the Monongahela River in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. After returning from a trip back home to Moorestown, Joshua Hunt died on the 26th day of the 2nd month, 1792.
