Robert Hunt was a Quaker from Burlington County, New Jersey. He was born the 21st of the 2nd month 1709 (old style) to Robert Hunt and Elizabeth Woolman. Robert's father died when he was seven years old, and he was raised by his Quaker stepfather, John Harvey. During his lifetime he was a successful shoemaker and tanner. With his first wife, Abigail Wood, Robert had three children (Abigail, John, and Robert); with his second wife, Martha Bate, he had four children (Elizabeth, Esther, Joshua, and Hope). He died February 29, 1764, aged 55 years.
