Biographical notes:

Joseph Roberts was a Quaker from Burlington County, New Jersey. He was born to Joshua Roberts and Rebecca Stokes Roberts on 19 September 1742, New Style (8th of 7th month, Old Style). In 1771 Roberts married Susanna Coles, daughter of Kendall and Anna Coles; the couple had 9 children together. He was a member of Evesham and Chester Monthly Meetings. Roberts died 22 February 1826.
