Artist, cartoonist. Born in New York in 1871, traveled to Europe to study violin. Studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Hamburg, Germany in 1887, at the Berlin Academy in 1888, at the Collège St.-Servais in Liège, Belgium from 1890 to 1891, and at Studio Schlabitz in Berlin from 1891 to 1892. Master at the Bauhaus in Dessau, Germany, 1926-1933, and member of the exhibition group Blaue Vier.
