Pascin, Jules, 1885-1930
Variant namesJules Pascin, artist, was born on March 31, 1885 in Widden, Bulgaria as Julius Pincas. He moved to Paris in 1905 and changed his name. He became an American citizen in 1914 and lived in New York for the duration of World War I. He was married to Hermine David. He returned to Paris in 1920, shortly after it was reopened to civilian travel. He went back to the United States in 1927 to retain his American citizenship. He was well-known in America and in Europe for his sketches and paintings. He committed suicide in 1930.
