Founded by Victoria Booth Demarest in Spokane, Washington, the World Association of Mothers for Peace appealed to mothers worldwide to unite against war. Victoria Booth Demarest (1889- ) was born into a family of evangelists: she was the granddaughter of William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army, and the daughter of Catherine Booth-Clibborn, who established the Salvation Army in France.
