Seidensticker, Oswald, 1825-1894
Variant namesBorn in Göttingen, Germany, Seidensticker emigrated to Philadelphia in 1846. In 1867 he was named professor of German language and literature at the University of Pennsylvania. He was also a member of the American Philosophical Society and the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.
