Freytag, Gottfried, b. 1810.

Gottfried Freytag was born in Bremen in 1810. He emigrated to the United States in 1833, settling at first in Baltimore, and three years later in Philadelphia. He became a member of the German Society of Pennsylvania in 1837, and served as secretary from 1845 to 1855. He was a partner in an import business, Fred. Thorspecken & Co., which later became Oberteuffer & Freytag. Freytag returned to Bremen to live in 1871, and he died there.
