Hide Profile

The Knights of Columbus originated in New Haven, Connecticut in 1882. The group's expansion to Iowa was the result of the efforts of Patrick McArdle, Illinois state deputy director. The first Iowa council was established in Dubuque in May, 1900 followed by council in Davenport in September of the same year. The Iowa State Council was instituted in 1902 with the first state convention being held in Dubuque that year.
