Kate Field was an American journalist and lecturer, also dramatist, novelist, and actress. She was well-known in Europe, and was popular in English literary circles. Lively, eccentric, and highly intelligent, she edited Kate Field's Washington during the last five years of her life.

Kate Field was a prominent American journalist, who experienced the significant events and personalities of her day and reported on them in a variety of newspapers and magazines. She also tried her hand as a dramatist, critic, and actress, and was hired as one of the world's first public relations advisers by Alexander Graham Bell.
