Young, Edward
Variant namesEd Young was born 11-28-31 in China, where he lived until attending college in the United States. He attended Art Center College in Los Angeles and the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York. In 1951, Young became a naturalized citizen. Young later taught in the Visual Communications Department of Pratt Institute for seven years. Among the works illustrated by Young, The Emperor and the Kite was a Caldecott Honor Book in 1968 and The Girl Who Loved the Wind was in the Children's Book Showcase in 1973.

Children's book illustrator and author, Ed (Tse-chun) Young was born in Tientsin, China in 1931 and emigrated to the United States when he was 20 years old. He studied at American universities and at the Art Center of College of Design and the Pratt Institute. He often uses the folklore and folktales of China for inspiration and captures the the feel of Chinese art in his illustrations.
