Biographical notes:
Samuel Stokes was a member of the Society of Friends associated with Haddonfield, New Jersey and Haddonfield Monthly Meeting. He was born on the 16th day of the 7th month, 1711 (Old Style), the son of Joseph and Judith. He had 12. siblings, Hannah, Mary, Martha, Rebecca, Judith, Bathsheba, Nathan, Joseph, Mary, John, Thomas, Elizabeth. He married Hannah Hinchman in 1741 and the couple had 7 children, Joseph, Samuel, Hannah, Judith, Sarah, Mary, John. He died in 1781.
