Samuel Rogers was born near London to a wealthy family. As an adult he enjoyed writing poetry, publishing several volumes. He entertained the cultured and literary society of London, and his journals, edited and published after his death as Recollections of the table-talk of Samuel Rogers (1856) and Recollections (1859), are valuable sources of information about the period.
