Biographical notes:

Octavius Brooks Frothingham was an American clergyman and author. Born in Boston and educated at Harvard, he began as a Unitarian pastor, although his congregation evolved into the Independent Liberal Church. He was a renowned speaker, and author of numerous religious and secular works. Often controversial, often radical, he was an active abolitionist and early supporter of Darwin.
