Assignment by John Cary of Marybone Parke (Midd.), esq., and George Farewell of Hill Bishopps (Somers.), esq., to Arthur Duck of London, doctor of laws, of a lease for 99 years from 31 May, 12 Charles I [1636], made by the said John Cary to the said George Farewell, of a moiety of the manor of Mynster in the Isle of Thanett (Kent), late parcel of the monastery of St. Augustine near the walls of Canterbury, being a moiety of all the lands granted by letters patent, dated 24 December, 9 James I [1611], to Sir Philip Cary, knight, since deceased, John Williams, late of London, esq., since deceased, and Sir William Pitt, knight, since deceased, by the name of William of Westminster, esq., to hold for the unoccupied term free from encumbrances, etc. With note on reverse: "This deed was shewed unto Willm Bellamy at the time of his [?] in Chancery on the behalfe of Richard Duck, esquire, complainant, against John Cary, esquire, deforciant." Release by (1) William Willoughby, esq., of Hunsdon (Herts.), Sir Humphrey Brigges of Haughton (Salop), knight and baronet, and John Whitfield of the Middle Temple (London), esq., by and with the consent of John Cary of Minster in the Isle of Thanett (Kent), esq., and in consideration of an intended marriage between John Cary and Dame Mary Baesh, widow and relict of Sir Edward Baesh, knight, late of Stanstead Abbot, alias Stanstead Baesh, (Herts.), deceased, to (2) Janes, earl of Suffolk and Sir Dudley North of Tavestock (Suff.), knight of the Bath, of a moiety of the manor of Minster aforesaid, and of a moiety of all other lands, etc., granted by James I by letters patent, dated 24 December, 9 James [1611], to Sir Philip Cary, knight, John Williams, esq., and William Pitt, then esquire afterwards knight, which premises were leased on the day before the date of these presents by the same; to hold to the grantees to the use of the said John and Mary for their livesand the life of the longer liver, and then to the use of the heirs begotten between them, with remainder to the right heirs of John. With sundry other covenants continued on a second sheet bound to the first by seal tags.

Lease by Sir Phillipp Cary of Hunslett in the county of York, knight, to Richard Speede of Aldenham in the county of Hertford, gentleman, and John Rogers of Clifford's Inn, London, gentleman, for a thousand years, of his moiety of the lordship and manor of Minster in the Isle of Thanet, Kent, and all of the other lands granted to him, being a parcel of the possessions of the dissolved monastery of St. Augustine, Canterbury, which he had of John Williams, citizen and goldsmith of London, and William Pitt, then of the city of Westminster, esquire, now knight by letters patent dated 24 December 9 James I; William Pitt by indenture having released to Cary and Williams all his right in the premises.

Lease by John Cary of the city of London, esquire, to George Farewell of Hill Byshopps (Somers.) for £1,800 and a term of 99 years a moiety of the manor of Mynster in the Isle of Thanett (Kent), late parcel of the possessions of the monastery of St. Augustine's near the walls of Canterbury, and of a moiety of divers other lands, etc., granted by his majesty James I by letters patent dated 24 December, 9 James I, to Sir Philip Cary, knight, John Williams of London, esquire, and William Pitt, then of Westminster (Midd.) and now Sir William Pitt, knight; then to hold to the payment of debts incurred for Sir Henry Cary, knight and lord viscount Falkland.
