This collection consists of the manuscripts for Werner Lenggenhager's Historical Markers and Monuments of the State of Washington. It includes all 10 chapters; supplements; index compiled by Lenggenhager in 1970 and 72 folders of 9.5 in. x 8 in. black and white photographs. The photographs consists of photo prints of historical monuments, cities, towns, buildings and other structures in the State of Washington, 1959-1967. The collection includes Monuments and Markers in Washington State which was compiled by Alta West, librarian of the Washington State Historical Society.

This is a collection of four scrapbooks that consists of obituaries of primarily, pioneers of Thurston County, Washington. Most of the obituaries were clipped from the Daily Olympian by Bernice A. Sapp from 1947-1951. Throughout the scrapbooks, there are notations about those people that were pioneers of the area as well as other individuals' obituaries collected in the scrapbooks. One scrapbook has a label on the cover that states: "Obituarial [sic] material, DPW Loan Collection." Another scrapbook has a label: "This scrapbook contains valuable material for final obituarial [sic] and genealogical files."

This collection contains original and copies of correspondence of Isaac I. Stevens from 1835 until about 1862. The personal correspondence includes letters from his sister, uncle, cousin and friend. Of particular interest may be a letter (1862) requesting Hazard, his son, to be a part of his command during the Civil War. There is incoming and outgoing correspondence pertaining to Territorial government matters. There is a manuscript parchment paper copying book with 87 copies of letters that pertain to governmental matters. The copying book includes letters from territorial governors including Chas. Mason, acting Governor for Stevens, and Gov. Solomon. There is correspondence concerning some of the Stevens' collections in Washington State, including inventories at the time (1967-1972). There are biographical notes about Isaac Stevens and his family, including the family tree of Isaac & Margaret Stevens. There are 2 black & white negatives of portraits of Stevens. The current negatives are of portraits taken about 1853 and the other, in 1862 of Stevens in his full Brigadier General uniform.

It is unclear if Mr. Salomon is a descendant of Edward S. Salomon.

Also includes two ms. letters, one each written by Edwin Eells and his wife Abbie Eells at the time of President Rutherford B. Hayes's visit to Washington Territory, reflecting their introduction to Hayes and the request for help in finalizing the title to patented lands on behalf of the Indians under Eells's jurisdiction; correspondence, enrollment ledger, and lists compiled by Eells in 1864 of all men in the Walla Walla area subject to possible military duty in the Union Army during the Civil War relating to his service as Enrolling Officer; addresses and articles relating to early Washington history, including history of the Walla Walla First Congregational Church; Eells family records, photographs, scrapbooks, and clippings; and photocopies of ms. By Rev. Myron Eells entitled "The Indians of Puget Sound" and paper on Skokomish religious beliefs, containing first hand observations on some of the tribes of western Washington. Includes addendums to his autobiography concerning his early involvement in the formation of Washington State Historical Society, the development and construction of First Congregational Church of Tacoma, history of the Cushman Indian School; and typescript articles by Ida Eells reflecting Eells family history in early Washington.

Personal diaries (1878-1917), personal reminiscences, copies of many of Chittenden's reports issued by the U.S. Corps of Engineers, including the series Report ... Yellowstone National Park (1879-1883, 1886-1900), files of his notes on death in Yellowstone Park and three different hold-ups (including first hand accounts) in the park, correspondence (arranged in chronological order), invitations to speak or participate in conferences, announcements of his being elected to boards and honorary membership in various organizations, speeches, research notes, published books, typescript articles reflecting his many interests, including the Panama Canal, war and Peace, Christian Science, and engineering concerns, and other papers. Correspondents include Senator Wesley L. Jones and Robert Underwood Johnson, regarding Canadian reciprocity (1911); inquiries concerning his historical research from Edwin L. Sabin, Katherine Coman, and J. Neilson Barry; David Starr Jordan commenting on Chittenden's article in the Atlantic Monthly about the case against war and other issues of interest from the World Peace Foundation; and Thomas Burke. Much of the original material in the collection published by the repository after receiving it from Chittenden's surviving children in H.M. Chittenden, a western epic, being a selection from his unpublished journals, diaries, and reports (1961).

This is a collection of memories and reminiscences of Arthur S. Cory and Johanna (Kiehlbauch) Cory. It was written by Arthur S. and Johanna Cory. Mildred Jeffries was the amanuensis (secretary) for the memoirs of the Corys. Mr. Cory kept all the newspaper clippings about himself and his wife's activities in scrapbooks over the years. He states this autobiography is written when he is 85 years old and the scrapbooks have been good reminders of different activities through the years.
