Richardson was Quie's special assistant for appointments for boards and committees through 1979, when Jensen took over; Magee was their assistant. The files consist of correspondence informing successful applicants of their appointments; minutes of meetings and budget materials of the Governor's Appointment Advisory Committee; and memos and correspondence concerning appointments to most state boards, commissions, and councils. There are also board and commission membership lists, an alphabetical list of appointments, and a list of executive orders that created task forces to make appointment recommendations to the governor.

Title: Governor's Forum files, 1982.

The Governor's forums were a series of panel discussions arranged by the governor on important social issues. Panel discussion participants (usually four or five at each forum) were invited from interest groups and organizations involved with the forum topic. The forums took place at a number of locations in the Twin Cities and around the state, and they usually drew audiences of two to five hundred persons. The forums were moderated by various local television and news people. Governor Quie did not participate as a panel member but usually made summarizing comments at the end of each forum. Topics were crime (June 14, 1982 at Macalester College); education (July 28, 1982, at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul Campus, and November 8, 1982, at Coon Rapids Senior High School); housing (June 2, 1982 at Macalester College); mental health (June 30, 1982 at Macalester College); Minnesota's future (October 21, 1982 at Jefferson High School, Bloomington); public-private partnership (November 12, 1982 at the Radisson Hotel in Bloomington); and soil conservation (July 14, 1982 at Mankato State University).
