Receipts, notices, and bills, 1910-1937.

This series consists of various receipts, notices, and bills concerning such financial matters and duties of the Clerk of the Supreme Court as the payment of postage, the payment of rent on a post office box, the payment of a newspaper firm for the printing of the results of a court case and the payment of sheriff's costs. Included are receipts from the post master, sheriffs, and the Southern Express Company for the transport of packages. Also included are notices of receipts of State Auditor's warrants, by Robert F. Ligon, Clerk, to the post master, and the State Treasurer's notices of receipts of fees, from the Supreme Court, as reported by the State Auditor.

Ligon, Robert Fulwood, 1864-1939.

Ligon was born in Tuskegee, Alabama, in 1864 to Robert Fulwood and Emily Paine Ligon. The younger Robert Ligon graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (later Auburn University) in 1882. He was admitted to the bar in 1886; entered a law partnership with George P. Harrison at Opelika in 1888; and moved to Montgomery in 1892 and became the law partner of Tennent Lomax.
