Ligon, Robert Fulwood, 1864-1939.
Ligon was born in Tuskegee, Alabama, in 1864 to Robert Fulwood and Emily Paine Ligon. The younger Robert Ligon graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (later Auburn University) in 1882. He was admitted to the bar in 1886; entered a law partnership with George P. Harrison at Opelika in 1888; and moved to Montgomery in 1892 and became the law partner of Tennent Lomax. In 1898 he was appointed clerk of the Alabama Supreme Court, a position he held for approximately forty years. Ligon was also active in the state militia, or national guard, and served in a variety of capacities, including adjutant general. Ligon died in 1939.
