William Whann Mackall was born in Washington, D.C., on January 17, 1817. He graduated from West Point in 1837 and served with the U.S. Army in the Seminole and Mexican-American Wars. He was made Assistant Adjutant-General with the rank of Major in 1853, but resigned in 1861 and joined the Confederate Army. Mackall served with Simon Buckner and P.G.T. George Wright was an American soldier who served in the Mexican-American War and the American Civil War. He was born in Vermont in 1803 and died at sea on July 30, 1865. Wright attended West Point and graduated in 1822. He fought in the Mexican-American with the 8th infantry, and after being wounded was given the rank of colonel.
