An unsigned note written in the third person by John Randolph of Roanoke to Gen. John Floyd of Georgia, 1827 January 31, thanks him for the pleasure of inspecting some drawings and for interest the General has displayed in his health. A letter from John B. Floyd, Secretary of War, to James Buchanan, 1857 December 23, submits papers on Kansas as called for in a recent U. S., Senate resolution.

John Floyd, 1769-1839, was a member of the Georgia State House of Representatives, a planter, army officer, and owner of Fairfield plantation in Camden County, Georgia. Floyd County was created in 1833 and named for him. John McAllister & Son were manufacturers of whips, canes, spectacles, based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
