The Newark Eagles was a professional Negro League baseball team that played in the second Negro National League from 1936 through 1948. Newark Eagles baseball team began in 1935 as the Brooklyn Eagles in New York. The team moved to Newark in 1936 and was renamed the Newark Eagles when the Newark Dodgers merged with the Brooklyn Eagles. Effa Manley was co-owner of the Newark Eagles of the Negro Leagues. Cliff Kachline wrote and edited for The Sporting News (1943-1967). He was Public Relations Director for the North American Soccer League from 1967 to mid-1969.
