Scrapbooks containing programs, publicity photographs, newspaper illustrations, and reviews of plays, operas, and vaudeville performed in London, with a few from Brussels. Included are stills or programs from performances of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew, The Merchant of Venice, Hamlet, Henry V, Othello, The Winter's Tale, King Henry VIII, Twelfth Night, and Midsummer Night's Dream; Gilbert and Sullivan's Mikado and The Yeomen of the Guard; Moliere's Bourgeois Gentilhomme; J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, Rosalind, and other plays; G.B. Shaw's Pygmalion, John Bull's Other Island, Overruled, Fanny's First Play, and Androcles and the Lion; Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband; and lesser-known plays by Seymour Hicks, George Edwardes, Edward Knoblauch, and others, as well as several plays produced by Granville Barker. Actors pictured include Ellen Terry, Lewis Waller, Sir Henry Irving, Ellaline Terriss, Fred Terry, Winifred Emery, Ernest Mainwaring, Gerald Du Maurier, and Annette Kellerman. Theaters featured include the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane; the Garrick Theatre; the Theatre Royal, Haymarket; the Savoy Theatre; and the Playhouse. Operas include Verdi's Otello and Rigoletto; Puccini's Madama Butterfly; Saint-Saens's Samson et Dalila; Rossini's Barber of Seville; Richard Strauss's Salome; and Wagner's Lohengrin, Tristan und Isolde, and Parsifal.
