The collection consists of a small but diverse collection that documents the career, rather than the personal life, of Julia Luigia Maietta as a labor organizer, union representative, Democratic Party activist and candidate, and national labor and women's advocate. Coverage for most topics tends to be broad rather than detailed and frequently consists of fragmented or incomplete documentation. The collection includes Maietta's personal and business correspondence and ephemera; newspaper clippings; collected mailings, publications, and official documents; photographs; and sound recordings. Julia Luigia Maietta (1909-1994), of Curwensville, Pa., worked in a shirt factory in her hometown, and became active in the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America union.
