Correspondence between members of the Croghan and Jesup families, primarily siblings Dr. John Croghan, William Croghan, Jr., and Ann Croghan Jesup, and Ann's daughter Lucy Ann Jesup. Letters discuss life at Locust Grove, a visit to Mulberry Hill, the division of Lucy Croghan's estate, and other family matters. Collection also includes a poem written by Thomas Sidney Jesup for his daughter Lucy Ann Jesup; an indenture regarding land; and a handwritten copy of a letter from Lyman Draper requesting biographical information about George Rogers Clark.

George Croghan, son of Major William Croghan and Lucy Clark, was born near Louisville, Kentucky, on November 15, 1791. His mother was the sister of William Clark, the famous explorer, and George Rogers Clark, the Revolutionary War General. George graduated from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, in 1810 and studied law briefly before volunteering as a dragoon to fight Indians in the Northwest Territory.
