George M. Humphrey was secretary for the United States Treasury Department from 1953-1957. He was the first Saginawian to win a cabinet appointment. He was born in Cheboygan, Michigan in 1890 and graduated from the Saginaw Public Schools. He received his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1912.
